Apple pie

The smell of apple pie is one that fills your home and soul. An autumn-specific dessert, but not only. I really like the contrast between the slightly crunchy crust and the juicy and fragrant apples.

  • 400 grams of flour
  • 75 grams of sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 200 grams of cold butter
  • 1 kilogram of apples
  • cold water
  • optional - 1 egg

Preparation time: less than 30 minutes


The flour, baking powder and salt are mixed in a bowl. Add the cold butter, cut into pieces, and knead quickly until the composition is similar to a breadcrumbs. Then add 4-5 tablespoons of cold water and knead to obtain a homogeneous dough. Depending on the flour, you may need 1 egg to bind the dough. After obtaining a compact dough, put it in foil and leave it in the fridge for 30-40 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 220 degrees. Cut the apples into cubes and mix them with sugar and possibly cinnamon, if you want a more intense flavor.

Take the dough out of the fridge and divide it in two. Grease a pie tin and roll out half of the dough. we put the apples and then from the other half of the dough we form a lid for our pie. Sprinkle it with a little water and sugar on top.

Bake the apple pie for 10 minutes at 220 degrees and then 30 minutes at 190 degrees.

It can be enjoyed hot next to a cup of vanilla ice cream or with a cup of cream.
