Punch of black tea

Punch is a slightly alcoholic and very fragrant cocktail, generally preferred by women.

  • 8 grams of granulated black tea (3 half teaspoons for this type of tea)
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 3 oranges
  • a lemon
  • 2 cans of blonde beer
  • 2 pieces of star anise
  • a few cloves

Servings: 4

Preparation time: less than 30 minutes


The tea is infused for 6 minutes in 500 ml of hot water (not boiling) in which I dissolved the sugar. The temperature for brewing black tea is generally 90 degrees Celsius. After the brewing time has elapsed, the tea is removed.

In a saucepan, heat the two beer cans together with the orange and lemon juice. After the mixture starts to boil, remove from the heat and mix with the tea, star anise and cloves and leave to infuse for another 5 minutes.

It can be eaten cold or hot.

For this recipe I used Assam BPS TYP "Typhoo" - black tea from India, geographical area Assam, made by CTC technique.


It is very important to remove the tea from the infusion in the recommended time, because otherwise, due to the rich tannin content, it will become bitter and hard.
