New IPA Blends in the Flavors of Coffee and Chocolate for Valentine’s Day

Stone Brewing, the largest brewery in Southern California, adds two of everybody’s favorite flavors to their tastebuds

The beer contains 9.4 percent ABV.

Stone Brewing’s “Stone Enjoy By” IPA series emphasizes flavorful craft beer made to not last, with very short windows of freshness to enjoy each one. The latest addition to the series is Stone Enjoy By 02.14.17 Chocolate & Coffee IPA, beer with a 37-day fresh time period that ends on Valentine’s Day.

“The chocolate and coffee combination we finally hit on was inspired by what we had done recently with Stone Mocha IPA, but here it took on new life with the Stone Enjoy By series,” Jeremy Moynier, senior innovation program manager, said in a statement.

“This recipe was brewed specifically to add another layer to go with the complexity of the hops and the result is a very special hop-lovers dream alongside a cup of coffee and a bite of chocolate.”

The IPA is brewed with San Diego Sunrise, a blond coffee roast from Ryan Bros. Coffee for more of a chocolate flavor, which adds to the fruity hints of lemon and orange citrus from the hops. To add more of a chocolate flavor, the brewers added chocolate pressed from cocoa beans sourced from Belize.

Stone Enjoy By 02.14.17 Chocolate & Coffee IPA is now available nationwide at select bars, restaurants, and retailers in either 22-ounce bottles, 12-ounce bottles in six-packs, or on draft.
